Reinvented Jovic nails a brace to destroy Inter's dream of Treble

Serbian striker is in brutal goal-scoring form. He scores two at San Siro tonight (3-0) to push AC Milan to the Coppa Italia showdown

Inter created almost a handful of clear-cut chances, but it was Luka Jovic who found the back of the net twice.

That's how the return leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final unfolded strangely on Wednesday night at San Siro, as AC Milan celebrated a surprising 3-0 away win to progress to the final (4-1 on aggregate).

If it weren't for the reinvented Serbian striker - who's been in incredible form in the last couple of weeks - and the Rossoneri's keeper Mike Maignan, Inter could have won this easily. Alas, sometimes two players are enough to turn things around completely and that's precisely what we saw at the iconic venue tonight.

Simone Inzaghi's slot was determined to keep their hunt for the Treble alive, their only second-ever after that memorable one in 2010. Balls kept flying around Maignan and confused Milan's defensive line shortly after the kick-off, but Dimarco hit the crossbar, while the brilliant custodian managed to save Lautaro Martinez's and Darmian's efforts.

And then, in the middle of those Nerazzurri's attacks, Gimenez's cross found Jovic in the middle of the box for a classy header and a shocking lead against the run of play, 0-1.

The goal they conceded didn't seem to worry the home side too much, but it was all over instantly when the former Real Madrid striker doubled the lead after the break. Reacting superbly amid the commotion in the box, Jovic headed it home for 2-0, depriving the archrival of hope.

Inzaghi opted for instant changes, putting on as many as four new players at the same time, which, in hindsight, did not affect the game whatsoever. On the other hand, Rafael Leao assisted Tijjani Reijnders marvellously for the third and the last goal of the night, sealing the victory of Sergio Conceicao's men.

Milan will face the winner of the Bologna vs Empoli tie in the showdown (Bologna have 3-0 advantage after the first leg), while the Nerazzurri will focus on the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona and the dramatic Serie A title race with Napoli.
