The former Kakamega Homeboyz defender made it into the final squad for the Uganda and Rwanda clashes.

Gor Mahia skipper Harun Shakava has revealed that the Harambee Stars camp is in a bullish mood ahead of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Uganda Cranes on Thursday.

The two neighbouring nations are set to renew their rivalries in the Migingo Derby on Thursday 2 September at the Nyayo National Stadium in a 4 PM kick-off.

Shakava featured in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Mauritius away and Cape Verde both home and away as the Islanders bundled Harambee Stars out of the World Cup.

Speaking ahead of the clash against Uganda, Shakava noted that Uganda will not be pushovers despite enduring a torrid run of results recently.

“In 2015 I played the qualifiers and that time it was tough, this is another opportunity and we have grown, we cannot say that the opponents are tough but they will also not be easy to beat,”

“We are waiting for the game, 90 minutes will determine but the mood now in the camp is good, players are ready so I hope we will have a good day on that day,” said Shakava.

The Harambee Stars camp was bolstered by the arrival of Michael Olunga, Richard Odada, Masud Juma, Kenneth Muguna, Ian Otieno and Eric Ouma and await the services of Joseph Okumu and Eric Johana.

Shakava has endured a whirlwind season after leaving Zambian side Nkana FC in February but rediscovered his form at Gor Mahia helping them to their first-ever FKF Cup in nine years.

The former Kakamega Homeboyz defender urged fans to get behind their team from the comfort of their couches as they will not be allowed into the stadium.

“We urge the fans to support the team, Kenya is ours and the World Cup is just around the corner, We can do it,” added Shakava.
