Kapaito was left frustrated after pulling his hamstring muscles but is set to return to full fitness in three weeks.

Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) top scorer Eric Kapaito has revealed that he is set to return from his injury after two or three weeks.

His return will however not be on the competitive stage after President Uhuru Kenyatta banned all sporting activities due to a spike in Covid-19 cases in the country.

Kapaito pulled his hamstring during one of the Harambee Stars training sessions and ruled him out of the Egypt and Togo African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Kapaito revealed that he will return to training after two to three weeks having left the Harambee Stars camp.

“I’m still recuperating from my injury, I just hope that in the next two or three weeks I will be okay. I was not really severe but I could not run because there was some pain but I could walk,” said Kapaito

The Kariobangi Sharks forward is now being handled by the club physios who aim to prevent the injury from recurring.

Kapaito admitted that the injury left him frustrated as he missed what would have been his first-ever African Cup of Nations qualifier.

“The injuries are frustrating but you have to be strong and as a footballer, you sort of have to be prepared for such things because not every time things go your way.”

“This was a huge call up for me, I just hope that I will get another opportunity to represent the country,” added Kapaito.

The former Talanta FC forward will be hoping to extend his red hot goal-scoring streak as he currently leads the top scorer’s charts with 14 goals.
