Shujaa staged a second half comeback to beat Uganda 24-7 and extend our dominance over our neighbours
National men rugby sevens side, Shujaa, picked up from where they left in day one of the Rugby Africa Solidarity Sevens training camp currently taking place in Stellenbosch, South Africa after recording two wins in matches against neighbouring Uganda and the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport (SAS)
First match
The first match of the day was against SAS where four second half tries were enough to get the job done as the Innocent Simiyu coached side won 26-0 in their opening game on the second day of the tournament. Jeff Olouch beat his marker to break the deadlock with a try under the posts that was converted for a 7-0 lead halfway through the contest.
Alvin Otieno then sliced through the SAS backline to add a second unconverted try for Shujaa. A kick and chase after SAS lost the ball in contact saw Derrick Keyoga score a third converted try for a 19-0 lead. The final try came from Vincent Onyala to close the game at 26-0.

Second Match
The second game of the day saw Shujaa stage a second half comeback to beat Uganda 24-7 and extend our dominance over our neighbours.
Philip Wokorach ran past Kenya’s defense line to score a converted try that gave Uganda Cranes a 7-0 lead. Nelson Oyoo however cut the lead to only two points towards the end of the first half after Billy Odhiambo offloaded the ball to him.
In the second half, Shujaa upped the ante and Oyoo added a second try that this time was converted to stretch Kenya’s lead to 12-7. Alvin Otieno added a third to take the scores to 17-7. Alvin Humwa tapped the ball back from kick off and Taabu went on to score the fourth try at the centre for a converted try and a 24-7 final win.
Having won two out of three games yesterday and two out of two today, Shujaa will now rank second after completion of the pool stage matches.
Kenya will be back in action later in the evening for the final match of the weekend.
