Still, in Sweden, Harambee Stars midfielder Collins Sichenje missed AIK’s 6-2 win over Norrkoping at the Friends Arena
Kenyan midfielder Timothy Ouma provided an assist Sunday in his first start as Swedish top-tier side Elfsborg picked a 3-1 win over Malmo at the Boras Arena.
Ouma, who pulled the strings on the right side of midfield, occasionally dropping deep to offer support to the full-back right, set up Arber Zeneli for the first goal in the first half, before going into the referee’s book in the 72nd minute.
The former Nairobi City Stars midfielder ended up lasting on the pitch up to the final whistle.
In Sweden, still, Harambee Stars midfielder Collins Sichenje missed AIK’s 6-2 win over Norrkoping at the Friends Arena.
Sichenje, who returned to AIK before the start of the season after the end of his loan deal in Finland, has endured difficulties in getting playing time given the sky-high competition for playing time.
In Denmark, Stars right back Daniel Anyembe was involved in Viborg’s 1-0 win over Hvidovre at the Ventilation Arena.
Viborg got the match-winner through Jakob Vester after he was put through by Anyembe.
While Anyembe had an afternoon to remember, his compatriot Richard Odada had a rather difficult one as Aalborg lost 3-2 to Hobro at Portland Park.
Odada was named in the starting team and was withdrawn in the 70th minute for Daniel Erik Ask.
Closer home, center back Brian Mandela was overlooked in Mamelodi Sundowns' 2-1 win over Stellenbosch in a Nedbank Cup semifinal clash staged at the Craven Stadium.
The recently crowned South African champions will face Orlando Pirates in the final.
