It was not a good day in the office either for another Stars striker Jonah Ayunga as his St. Mirren fell 2-0 to Dundee
Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga had endured a frustrating afternoon as his side Al Duhail suffered a 4-0 defeat to Al Shamal in a Qatar Stars League (QSL) match hosted at Khalifa Stadium on Saturday.
Al Duhail and Olunga were enjoying a good run of form heading to today's match, as the team had won the last three duels against; Al Gharafa, Al Ahli and Al Shaban, with the Kenyan scoring twice.
However, their bid to make it four consecutive wins suffered a brutal blow, in front of home fans, inviting pressure at the summit of the QSL log, as the team could be relegated to the second position if Al Sadd wins the game in hand.
Olunga clocked full time in the game as was his newly-found friend and former Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech, who joined Duhail in January from Galatasaray.
The visitors took the lead barely two minutes into the game through Algerian Mohamed Rafik Omar with Mohammed Al Mannai doubling the advantage six minutes later.
Younes El Hannah made it three in the dying seconds of the first with Omar sealing his brace a minute into the second half.
Duhail and Olunga will hope to bounce back to winning ways when they face Al Arabic next weekend at home.
Despite the loss, Duhail remain at the top of the table with 44 points, one ahead of Al Sadd and four more than Al Gharafa's tally.
It was not a good day in the office either for another Stars striker Jonah Ayunga as his St. Mirren fell 2-0 to Dundee in a Scottish Premiership match played at Dens Park.
Ayunga was withdrawn in the 58th minute for Frenchman Yann Mandron, as Mirren coach Stephen Robinson sought to level matters.
However, it was not going to be their day as Simon Murray sealed his brace ten minutes later to secure all three points. Murray had broken the deadlock in the first minute of the game.
Stars left back Vincent Harper also had a day to forget as Exeter City suffered a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Stockport County in an English third tier game played at St. James Park.
Harper was brought in the 55th minute for Patrick Samuel Jones.
