The team that will compete in the second tier of English football next season sees Gerrard as their future and a way back to the Premier League
Steven Gerrard has emerged as a potential option for Burnley FC should the club decide to move on from Scott Parker following their relegation.
The former Liverpool FC captain has already managed in both the Premier League and Scotland, but has yet to take charge of a side in England’s second division. Now eager to return to management, Gerrard would likely be in serious consideration if Burnley opt for a change at Turf Moor.

Parker has spent two seasons at the club, overseeing an impressive promotion campaign that saw Burnley hit the 100-point mark. However, that success proved short-lived, as the team failed to adapt to life back in the top flight and suffered immediate relegation—confirmed by a defeat to Manchester City last week.
According to TalkSport, discussions regarding Parker’s future are already underway, and an exit is considered a real possibility. If that scenario unfolds, Gerrard is expected to be among the frontrunners for the role.
Another name in the mix is Craig Bellamy, a former teammate of Gerrard at Liverpool. Bellamy is currently leading Wales national team, and previously served as an assistant to Vincent Kompany at Burnley, where he left a positive impression.

As for Gerrard, his situation off the pitch has also shifted. Following his departure from Al Ettifaq in January 2025, he remained with the club in a consultancy role but is no longer under contract. Having spent the required period outside Saudi Arabia, he is now tax-exempt—removing a potential barrier to a return to English football.
