The goal the Argentine player scored for Tottenham in the North London derby back in March 2021 is rewarded as the best in the whole year

Spurs are often targeted as a club that never fulfils the fans' expectations, seldom reaching close to trophies but never eventually putting their hands on it.

But, hey, they are the only slot in the world to clinch not one but two Puskas awards for the most beautiful goal of the year. And they did it in two consecutive years. Heung-min Son was rewarded for his staggering solo run and goal against Burnley in 2020, while then-Spurs Eric Lamela won it for 2021.

The Argentine player - now featuring for the Spanish outfit Sevilla - received his award on Monday night at "The Best of 2021" ceremony. It is a much-deserved prize for that astonishing 'rabona' of his against Arsenal in the North London derby in March.

As soon as he netted that stunner at Emirates, it was blatantly clear we've already got ourselves a contender for the Puskas award. And, although there have been some more remarkable goals by the end of the season, none of them could challenge Lamela's originality and skillfulness.
