The dreadlocked player revealed that he elected to open the academy to tap the best talents at the area as well as keep the youths busy.

I invite young and senior players to train with us in our academy. I have for longed hoped to give back to the community and I believe this project will perfectly do so. I do not intend to charge anything as the footballs and everything else are catered for at least for now,” he said.

Masika who can also play as centre back said he was relying on the short coaching course he received in Spain in 2012 as well as his experience in the game to pass knowledge to interested players.

The former Ushuru player plans to enroll for the Confederation of African Football coaching classes offered by the Football Kenya Federation.

I will go back to class soon. I am planning to take the CAF badges so as to get more information and understand coaching more,” he added.

Apart from Talanta and Ushuru, Masika played for Nairobi City Stars and West Kenya Sugar and the JMJ Academy.
