Birmingham Football Club unveiled its mega project in a creative way – alongside Jude Bellingham (whose potential return has been widely discussed), characters from Peaky Blinders, set in Birmingham, also made an appearance
Birmingham City has revealed plans for its brand-new 62,000-seat stadium, set to become the flagship of a multi-billion-pound city redevelopment.
The Birmingham City Powerhouse, located in Bordesley Green, will be visible from up to 40 miles away and is intended to serve as a "beacon for excellence for Birmingham," club chairman Tom Wagner told guests at Thursday’s launch.

Surrounding the stadium will be twelve chimneys, with the venue designed to host a variety of sporting and entertainment events thanks to a retractable roof and movable pitch.
"The stadium draws upon the proud heritage of the West Midlands – a heritage of industry, ingenuity and growth," Wagner explained. The iconic chimneys pay homage to a former brickworks on the site while supporting the roof structurally, with one tower featuring a lift to a bar offering panoramic city views. The “steep bowl” layout is designed to enhance the match-day atmosphere, complemented by markets, cafes, restaurants, and play areas within the stadium.
Marking the club’s 150th anniversary, Birmingham City has set its sights on completing the stadium in time for the 2030/2031 season.
Adding a touch of flair to the unveiling, former Blues star Jude Bellingham appeared alongside Arthur Shelby from Peaky Blinders in a short film at Steven Knight’s Digbeth Loc film studios. One of Birmingham’s most famous supporters, Knight — the creator of the hit series Peaky Blinders — is involved with the project because he recognizes its potential to be something truly special.
"I wanted to offer the architects some advice on what fans would enjoy and what they wouldn’t. This stadium reflects the past 150 years, and we hope it will be something that lasts for the next 150. We are going to make something extraordinary," Knight said.
A momentous day in the Club's history. 🏟️

The stadium will form the cornerstone of the new Sports Quarter, led by Wagner, co-founder of Knighthead Capital Management. The club acquired the 48-acre former Birmingham Wheels motorsport site in Bordesley in 2024 and plans include housing, hotels, recreational facilities, and green spaces.
