Despite facing sustained pressure from the hosts, Tusker defended their early advantage well and held firm to secure all three points
Tusker FC forward Thomas Omole is hopeful that his first goal of the season will ignite a strong run of form after what has been an inconsistent campaign for the young attacker.
Omolle struck the decisive goal in the 12th minute during Tusker’s 1–0 victory away to Mara Sugar last Saturday, a result that brought an end to the Brewers’ two-match losing streak following defeats to Kenya Police FC and Gor Mahia.
Despite facing sustained pressure from the hosts, Tusker defended their early advantage well and held firm to secure all three points.
For Omole, the breakthrough arrives at a crucial time.
After several promising performances without scoring, he now believes this goal can serve as the spark that pushes his season forward.
He revealed that getting off the mark had been one of his key personal targets.
Speaking to the club media, he said, “It was a huge delight to score and help the team win. I have been working hard to get that goal, and getting it finally is a massive boost for me in terms of confidence.”
Omolle added that he set clear targets for himself at the start of the campaign, focusing on improving his output in the final third.
“This season, my target was to add goals and assists into my game. Last season, I did not record as much and I have been ambitious to try and improve,” he explained.
The winger noted that he has been working consistently on creating chances and sharpening his finishing, adding that Saturday’s goal reflects the effort he has put in behind the scenes.
“As a forward, you are measured by either the goals you score or the assists you give. I hope to keep improving, keep scoring and keep assisting because that is what the team needs me for. Of course I still have lots to improve on and I aim to ensure that I deliver more,” he said.
Omole will now be looking to build on that momentum when Tusker face Ulinzi Stars in Murang’a on Friday afternoon.
