Vihiga were scheduled to play Bandari in their round 21 clash.

Vihiga United goalkeeper Mustafa Oduor has intimated that they have been dealt a blow by the suspension of sporting activities in their region, which saw their match against his former side Bandari aborted just at a time when the team was raring to go.

Vihiga were set to play against Bandari at home in the Round 21 clash but the match was postponed following the government's directive suspending sporting activities in 13 Western and Nyanza region counties.

Oduor noted that Vihiga were in high spirits for this duty following their 2-1 win against Nzoia Sugar on Wednesday, their second win of the season, and the first under their new coach Mike Mururi.

"We had picked well. We were raring to go after our win against Nzoia in the last outing but we will go with things as they are because it is a decision beyond us. It has gotten us off our timing. The win had given us such a good momentum but that has been put on hold," the goalkeeper told Mozzart Sport.

About the win against Nzoia, Oduor said that he had a feeling that they would win that match going by the effort they had put in and the morale boost they have received from their new coach.

"It is all about God's timing and plan. Going into that game I knew and believed we would win, and I told my teammates the same. I had seen the morale from my teammates in training and before the game, and I knew we would get a result. He (Mururi) has had a great impact on the team. He has improved the morale of the players, and in turn, the players have put in some hard work," Oduor said.

The former Nzoia Sugar custodian was instrumental for his team in the 2-1 win, making important saves as well as saving Gilbert Wandera's penalty in stoppage time to maintain Vihiga's lead before the referee ordered for a retake that hit the woodwork after ruling that he, Oduor, was off his line when the kick was taken.

He joined Nzoia Sugar from Bandari at the start of the season, before making the move to Vihiga in February this year in the mid-season transfer window.

Oduor, who has four clean sheets to his name this season, has also said that he is not focusing on personal targets and achievements, adding that the main focus at the moment is to help the team move to safety after climbing out of the relegation zone with the win in midweek.

"I am not focusing on personal achievements and targets, if I manage to keep more clean sheets and help my team in the process that's okay. The most important target at the moment is to see that we are safe off the dropzone, other targets we will set later," he added.
