Seasoned striker has been out for two weeks nursing an ankle injury

Experienced Kakamega Homeboyz forward Allan Wanga is expected to resume training this week after missing their last two matches.

Wanga suffered an ankle injury in their 2-1 Ingo Derby loss to AFC Leopards last month and subsequently, he sat out when his side went down fighting 2-1to Gor Mahia and in their 2-1 win over Mathare United.

Homeboyz head coach Nicholas Muyoti says the former Harambee Stars goal poacher picked the knock early in their match against Leopards but was immediately withdrawn after grabbing the consolation.

"We are expecting him to resume training in the course of the week. He was hurt barely ten minutes into our game against Leopards but pushed hard until he scored. Initially, it appeared a slight setback but we are glad he is will join the rest in training, " said the former Kenyan international.

Wanga who joined Homeboyz in 2018 from Tusker has been a reliable goal scorer for the club but Muyoti may not have felt his two-week absence as Christopher Masinza has comfortably shouldered the responsibilities, finding the back of the net against the defending champions and Mathare.

While Wanga is scheduled to start training this week, Muyoti will have to wait longer for the return of his creative midfielder Abdallah Wankuru who has been nursing a serious ankle injury.

Wankuru ditched Western Stima for Homeboyz at the start of the season but his efforts to break into the first team suffered a massive blow three weeks ago following the injury borne in training.

"The only major injury concern in our camp is Wankuru who is on a plaster. He is likely to out for a couple of weeks," he added

Homeboyz, who have five wins against their name welcome the 2009 league champions Sofapaka this weekend at the Bukhungu Stadium.
