The Tanzanian striker was the difference-maker as the Brewers stunned K’Ogalo with a narrow but crucial 1-0 win in a fiercely contested clash staged on Tuesday, 14 April at Wang'uru Stadium in Mwea.

The lanky yet powerful forward struck the decisive goal in the 16th minute, reacting quickest to a rebound after Gor Mahia goalkeeper Gad Mathews spilt a teasing delivery from Ian Simiyu.

Joshua calmly slotted home from close range, a composed finish that ultimately separated the two sides in the rescheduled FKF Premier League action.

Speaking to the club’s media after the match, a confident Joshua did not hold back in his assessment, insisting that Tusker’s triumph over the table toppers was proof enough of their quality.

“When you score against the team on top, then you are the best. So yes, we are the best,” he stated.

The Taifa Stars international, currently in his second stint with the Brewers after rejoining during the mid-season transfer window, has now netted four goals since his return.

His resurgence has coincided with Tusker’s renewed push up the table as they seek to reassert themselves among the league’s elite and for a strong finish.

Despite being outside the title race, Joshua emphasised that the club’s ambitions remain firmly intact, setting sights on a strong finish in the upper echelons of the standings.

“We are aiming for a top-three finish. Tusker is a big club with a rich history and does not deserve to be down in the standings. Our full focus is to finish high because that’s where we belong,” he added.

The 12-time champions finished fourth last season, while their most notable success in recent years came during the 2020/21 campaign when they clinched the FKF Caretaker Committee title, later nullified following government interference.

Currently sitting seventh on 40 points, Tusker are just six points adrift of third-placed Kakamega Homeboyz, keeping their podium hopes alive in what remains a tightly contested race.

With seven matches left to play, the Julien Mette-coached side faces a defining run-in where every point will be crucial as they aim to close the gap and secure a top-three finish, a target that now appears increasingly within reach following their statement victory over Gor Mahia.
