Ex-Arsenal forward Lucas Perez shows what love really is as he makes a switch from LaLiga side Cadiz to a third-division Deportivo La Coruna

Don't let them fool you - there are still professional football players childishly in love with that one special club they used to play in before.

And when the emotions rush through their veins, nothing can stop them from returning to their old and one true love.

Just check out Lucas Perez's case. The 34-year-old former Arsenal forward has decided to quit his Cadiz FC spell in the Spanish La Liga so he could return to his Deportivo La Coruna.

Ok, so what, you might ask. Well, there are a couple of intriguing facts surrounding the story. The first one is that this will be Perez's fourth stint at sleeping Spanish giants, currently playing in the third division.

So he's changing a top-notch football for much lower levels of the Spanish football hierarchy. But what makes this case even more unique is the fact Lucas will pay around half a million euros from his own pocket for a transfer fee! He was desperate to rejoin Deportivo as he "couldn't stand" seeing them in the third tier.

Deportivo are currently fourth in the Primera Federacion, four points behind league leaders Cordoba after 17 fixtures.

Perez, who is closing in on 100 appearances for Deportivo across two spells, will now look to steer them back into the second division - and professional football - after dropping two leagues.

Perez has signed a one-and-a-half-year deal but should the Galician team achieve promotion, the contract could be for three-and-a-half years.

He would also have the opportunity to move into a non-playing role within the club.

Perez netted 17 times for Depor while they were in La Liga in the 2015-16 season before joining Arsenal.
