Who can Amorim revive?

United's new beginning under the Portuguese could represent a new beginning for several written-off players

He needs time, that's for sure. Implementing new ideas, especially at Man United, is a long process, and Ruben Amorim must be trusted. So far, he has brought early goals - something the Red Devils lately lacked - but he could also provide something more important - reinforcements. And not from other sides but from United's ranks.

Namely, the change of gaffer brings numerous novelties, including new chances for some written-off players. And there is a number of those whose form continually went south at Old Trafford. First among the equals has to be Rasmus Hojlund, who hinted at waking up, after netting a brace against Bodo/Glimt in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday - the same number of goals he scored in the past 13 matches!

Amorim's arrival could possibly mean a change of formation - especially since the Portuguese played with three centre-backs at Sporting - which could provide chances for some "forgotten" players, primarily Tyrell Malacia.

The Dutchman missed almost the entire previous season due to a severe injury but is now back and ready to fight for his place on the team. His offensive qualities could fit perfectly in Amorim's ideas, as the convalescent could be an ideal solution for the left wing-back position. Moreover, he was in the XI against the Norwegian side, performing on the left flank.

Finally, Amorim's appointment could represent a new opportunity for Mason Mount, who fell short after coming from Chelsea as a major reinforcement. Still, the midfielder started against Bodo and was subbed in against Ipswich, meaning the manager counts on him, which is only the first, but vital step towards his complete return.
