In sports, the fans can frequently be as important as the athletes, who often rely on their supporters' roar to boost their confidence and give them energy to persist and win.
However, people in the stands occasionally have an urge to "steal the players' thunder", step into the spotlight, and get their 15 minutes of fame, becoming a meme or going viral on TV or social media, even if it means they have to do something unexpected and crazy.
Just like an Atletico Madrid fan did last night during the first leg of Los Colchoneros' duel against Arsenal in the Champions League semi-finals.
It was nearly halftime, and Viktor Gyokeres had just taken a penalty kick and put the Gunners in front. Everyone was getting ready for the break when he appeared, doing something unprecedented.
While the majority of the packed Metropolitano Stadium booed referee Danny Makkelie for pointing to the spot, the camera caught an elderly gentleman - making sandwiches?!
With a small knife in his hand and a couple of bread rolls before him, the man was putting some cold cuts on the bread and assembling sandwiches as if he were at a picnic in El Retiro Park or Casa de Campo in the Spanish capital. His "culinary skills" instantly went viral all over the internet, as people understood that sometimes hunger cannot be put aside.
In the end, it's hard to say whether he left the stadium with a smile on his face after Atleti's 1-1 draw, but he definitely had a good snack during the break.
