The Kenyan defender completed his move to the English Championship outfit on transfer deadline day in a deal believed to be worth over Ksh334 million.

Sichenje now begins a new chapter in England, hoping to follow in the footsteps of former Harambee Stars captain Victor Wanyama, who successfully made the transition to the English Premier League.

Rodwell revealed that Charlton had initially earmarked the former AFC Leopards defender for a summer move, but developments in the January transfer window created an opportunity to bring him in earlier than planned.

Having monitored Sichenje closely over a prolonged period, the Addicks moved decisively, aligning the signing with their wider multi-window recruitment strategy aimed at driving the club forward.

“We’re delighted to sign Collins. He’s a player we’ve been tracking for a long time and was originally budgeted to join us this summer as part of our multi-window strategy to move the club forward,” Rodwell told the club’s official website.

We’re pleased that the opportunity arose for him to join us earlier than we expected and are grateful to the ownership for their support in enabling us to bring him to the football club at this stage.”

Speaking after completing the move, the versatile defender expressed his excitement and determination to make the most of the opportunity in England.

“It feels amazing to be here. It’s a good club with a good project and I’m ready to start working,” Sichenje said.

“It’s a big step for my career and a great opportunity to keep developing and help the team. I just need to stay humble, work hard and keep improving, that’s the goal.”

Charlton currently sits 18th in the Championship standings with 35 points, three clear of the relegation zone. Sichenje could be in line for his debut on Saturday when the Addicks host Queens Park Rangers at The Valley.
