Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has suspended all league matches for a period of seven days following the passing of former Prime Minister, Raila Amollo Odinga.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the federation announced that the suspension follows the presidential directive and the government’s declaration of seven days of national mourning in honour of the late Gor Mahia patron.
“The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) wishes to inform the general public that following the Government’s declaration of seven days of National Mourning in honour of the late former Prime Minister Rt. Hon. Raila Amolo Odinga, all league fixtures scheduled during this period stand suspended,” read part of the federation’s statement.
The former Prime Minister passed away on Wednesday morning while receiving treatment in India.
President William Ruto, in an official address, declared a seven-day period of national mourning beginning immediately wednesday , 15 October and extending to the day of his interment.
As a result, all FKF Premier League, National Super League, and lower-tier fixtures slated for the mourning period have been postponed to later dates.
The affected fixtures include this weekend’s round five matches, among them Mara Sugar versus Bidco United, Kariobangi Sharks against APS Bomet, Homeboyz hosting Ulinzi Stars, Murang’a Seal taking on Tusker FC, AFC Leopards facing KCB, Shabana playing Mathare United, and Gor Mahia’s clash with Posta Rangers.
With the suspension , league action is expected to resume on the weekend of Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 October, with round six fixtures on the cards.
Before the suspension, only Wednesday’s scheduled matches proceeded as planned.
Kakamega Homeboyz returned to winning ways with a 3–1 victory over Bidco United, Posta Rangers continued their impressive form with a 2–1 win against Shabana FC, while Sofapaka earned their first win of the campaign by defeating Murang’a Seal 2–1 at St. Sebastian Park.
