South Sudanese defender Peter Maker Manyang has announced his departure from AFC Leopards, six months before the expiry of his contract with the FKF Premier League leaders.
The towering centre back had been engaged in closed door talks with the Fred Ambani-led side over the early termination of his deal, with the two parties reaching an agreement.
The player had, for several weeks, expressed his desire to move elsewhere in search of minutes, holding discussions with the club over compensation for the remainder of his contract.
His request is largely viewed as a result of lack of game time in the current season.
The former Zesco United defender took to social media to thank the club, his teammates and the fans for their support during his spell with the team, while wishing the side well in their pursuit of the league title this season.
“Thank you to the club, my teammates and the fans for the journey. I am proud to have been part of this chapter and wish the club all the best moving forward,” he wrote on hissocial media.
Manyang had fallen out of favour this season, struggling for game time thanks to competition from Ken Owino, Emmanuel Lwangu, Kayci Odhiambo and Randy Bakari.
The club is planning to sign an additional defender during the current transfer window to strengthen their backline.
Ingwe currently tops the FKF Premier League standings with 30 points after 16 matches, three more than second placed Gor Mahia, who have a game in hand as well as an abandoned fixture against Nairobi United, that is still awaiting a ruling from the FKF Disciplinary Committee.
