Winning is easy when you've got a midfielder to create chances! Manchester United crush Palace

Mason Mount produced his best performance since arriving from Chelsea as the Red Devils marched to the EFL last 16

Manchester United have been struggling to create chances so far this season, but it all changed on Tuesday night with the introduction of January signing Mason Mount. The former Chelsea star was involved in most of United's dangerous moves as Erik Ten Hag's team beat Crystal Palace 3-0 in the EFL Cup round of 32.

The football displayed by the home team at the Theatre of Dreams was nice to watch. Mount's pivotal role and quality pass in the buildup allowed Alejandro Garnacho to score easily from close range and make the home team's domination count.

Shortly before that, veteran manager Roy Hodgson had to replace his goalkeeper Dean Henderson, who left the field with his hand over his head. It's a disappointing end to former Manchester United's reserve's Palace debut.

United have demonstrated patience with the ball and beautifully dissected Palace for the goal and managed to score the second goal in time to set up a peaceful night for their fans at Old Trafford. This was undeniably Mason Mount's standout performance in a United shirt thus far. His crossfield pass led to the first goal, followed by a similar one that created a chance for Diogo Dalot. He was highly industrious in midfield, frequently sprinting over to support Sofyan Amrabat and Garnacho. As for Casemiro, he can't seem to stop scoring. The Brazilian powered a strong header in to double the lead midway through the first half.

Another forgotten man Anthony Martial scored the nicest goal of the night. He met Casemiro's cross with a volley that flew across Sam Johnstone and into the far corner.

Newcomer Amrabat has been an impressive defensive presence for United. His strength and tenacity allowed him to dominate the Eagles' 20-year-old Jeserun Rak-Sakyi down the flank.

It was an exceptional evening for United, and the challenge now will be to carry this momentum into the league match on Saturday.

Having lost three of their first five league games to severely damage their title hopes, Ten Hag was under mounting scrutiny until the last four days offered a ray of hope.

"It is a good night. I think we played quite well and we dominated the game. That was what we were looking for. We made a step forward at Burnley with how we defend and today, on the ball, we make another step. There is still a lot to come."
