Muthaiga Golf Club being the Home of Golf and housing the Kenya Golf Union, chose to immortalize H.E. late Mwai Kibaki’s legacy by organizing a three (3) day interclub golf tournament dubbed The Patron’s Cup.
This is expected to be an annual event and has also been sanctioned by the Kenya Golf Union (KGU).
The late Kibaki, the third president of the Republic of Kenya, whom for many years served as the Patron of the KGU and an ardent golfer played a very critical role in the development of the sport.
During his stewardship, golf flourished in the country as more golf courses sprung up and helped to demystify the sport as being only for the rich. More younger golfers are now enjoying this sport.
"We take this opportunity to thank the KGU, for their contribution to supporting this event both in terms of resources and personnel.
Equally, we acknowledge our partners, who have walked with us," said Ronal Meru chair-Muthaiga Golf Club.
