Action continues on Sunday 17 at Nyayo Indoor Arena.
Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) women's league champions Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) Ladies strolled past University of Nairobi (UoN) Dynamites to continue their winning ways.
The Antony Ojukwu-led side dominated in all quarters, restricting the varsity side to below ten points in each for a 64-30 victory.
This was Dynamites' season-opening match with coach Juma Kent blaming the unimpressive show on lack of training seeing as the university is not back in session yet.
"We had a good game but we have some work to do. It is important for the non-starters to perform at the same level with the starting team and keep the momentum going. Whenever I made changed, I could notice a slight drop in the intensity and it should not be the case," offered Ojukwu.
His opposite number, Kent says he is expecting better performances from his charges as the season progresses.
"We are just finding our rhythm, being a first match, but I guarantee a better show as the season progresses," offered Kent.
Meanwhile, former champions Equity Hawks were shocked to a 47-64 defeat at the hands of enterprising Zetech Sparks.
The bankers gave the game away early on in the first quarter as Sparks gave a brilliant first quarter, scoring 21 while restricting Hawks to a surprising six to build a comfortable lead that helped them soak in pressure from the former champions for a win.
In the men's league, Africa Nazarene University (ANU) made easy work of Kisumu Lakeside, picking a 63-30 win as KPA men laboured to beat UoN Terror 62-52.
