
Macligeyo ranks 92nd in World Youth Chess Championships

Kenyan youth Robert Macligeyo finished the World Youth Championships on a positive note after collecting 32 rating points as the event came to a close on Thursday in Italy.
Macligeyo is now rated an impressive 2070 one of the highest rated players in Kenya after his performance at the world event.
He garnered an impressive 4.5 points, winning against Hartley James from Australia.
It could however have been better had he not lost the last two matches against Schlegel Igol from Switzerland and Mierns Emils from Latvia.
At the end, Macligeyo was placed in 92nd position, and this being his last year as a youth, the Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) player can look forward to an even more successful reign in the senior category.
In the under-14 category, Shah Ruhan finished on three points and at position 164 overall.
The Mombasa based player won his two last matches beating Pataridze Alexander from the United States of America (USA) and Michael Schrimph of Austria.
He also managed a draw against Matema Ezywell of Zimbabwe.
Jamie Obora Kanango collected three points in the boys under-12 category and an overall 125th position.
Kanango drew against Rose Delle from Italy and beat Gaalina Allessandro also from Italy and Yang Chen-Yan from Taipei.
In the girls category, Vyonne Mwashe, the only Kenyan in the under-14 category, finished on 3.5 points.
She drew with Rice Lena from Singapore and beat Volapattavechsti Walinnampa from Thailand.
