Omanyala made history at the Tokyo Olympic Games, becoming the first Kenyan to grace the men's 100m semi-finals
Speedstar Ferdinand Omanyala has been named the 2021 Sportsman of the Year at a ceremony filled with pomp and color held at the Bukhungu Stadium on Tuesday evening, flooring rally driver Carl Tundo and Emmanuel Korir, with double Olympic Marathon champion Faith Kipyegon winning the corresponding award in the women's category beating Olympic marathon gold and silver medalists Peres Jepchirchir and Brigid Kosgei.
Olympic marathon champion Eliud Kipchoge of course had a place in the list of winners as he was awarded a Special Recognition Award for his accomplishments in the year that was.

Tokyo 2020 Paralympics sole medalist for the Kenyan team Nancy Chelangat took home the Sportswoman Living with a Disability award with Deaflympian Simon Kibai winning the award in the men's category.
After his historic feat at Kasarani Stadium in August during the World U20 Championship, becoming the first Kenyan to win a medal in a walk race, Heristone Wanyonyi was recognized as the Most Promising Boy ahead of 1500m gold medalist Vincent Keter and rugby's Andrew Matoka.
3000m champion at the same event Teresia Muthoni took home the Most Promising Girl gong following her heroics then, beating Violet Nanjala and Purity Chepkirui.

Shujaa beat Tusker Fc and KCB RFC to the Sports Team of The Year award in the men's category as 'legacy makers' Vihiga Queens emerged winners in the women's category ahead of Kenya Rugby Lionesses and Beach Volleyball team.
Charles Okere emerged the Coach of the Year after guiding Vihiga Queens to the inaugural CAF Competitions though some will feel he met a strong team that had already been assembled by his predecessor Alex Alumirah, muscling off Robert Matano and Curtis Olago to the award.
