Barasa cautious of Nairobi Water's threat, warns charges against underrating them

Prisons head coach Josp Barasa is anticipating a tough encounter against Nairobi Water in the second leg of the Kenya Volleyball Federation National League which gets underway on Saturday at the Nyayo indoor National Stadium.

Prisons saw off a star-studded KCB 3-1 in the first leg of the season played at the same venue in January and Barasa has challenged her girls to put their best foot forward and start off the contest with three points.

The clash pitting former champions Kenya Pipeline at the KDF which was initially set to open the stage was called off as the later was reportedly unprepared to honor the fixture. Consequently, Nairobi Prisons will take on the DCI in the first match before paving way for the Nairobi Water versus Prisons encounter with KCB wrapping day one fixtures with a clash against KDF

Barasa cautioned her charges against looking down upon their opponents on account of being favorites, noting that they are talented enough to upset them.

"We are looking to start the second leg with a win although we are expecting a tough game. Nairobi Water has one of the best experienced players capable of turning the results in their favour and we should not underrate them. We are taking each match with the seriousness it deserves," he said

The men's matches will be played separately in Vihiga and Laikipia County.

League leaders Kenya Ports Authority( KPA) will put their unbeaten run on the line when they play Equity Bank, and Nairobi Prisons at the Kidundu Stadium.

KPA has scooped nine points from three matches, while Equity who are ranked seventh have five points against their name. Nairobi Prisons on the other hand are placed fourth with six points from three matches.

Meanwhile, defending champions GSU will be out to gather six points when they tackle Mombasa Prisons and league returnees Kenya Forest Services at the Nanyuki Stadium.
