The new season is scheduled for February serve off

Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) women's league champions Prisons Kenya are looking to defend their title when they take on three other title- hungry sides at this season's playoffs.

The four-team competition is set for Friday 20 through to 22 January at Kasarani Indoor Arena with Prisons fighting against KCB Women, Kenya Pipeline and Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

Prisons head coach Josp Barasa has exuded confidence in the side's preparedness adding that the return of national team setter Joy Lusenaka is a huge boost to the side's chances at another gong.

"We have been working on our setting so the return of Lusenaka goes a long way in helping us get it right in that department.

Additionally, emphasis has been put on reception as it dictates how alot in volleyball. We cannot attack if out reception is poor. All the players are ready for the task ahead and they know what is at stake," Barasa said.

The tactician is also happy with his new recruits saying some are ready for duty while others will be called to action in the new season set to serve off next month.

Prisons, however, will be without one of their most experienced players, Lydia Maiyo, who has been out of action and Barasa admits she is back in training but not ready for the playoffs.

Prisons face a Pipeline side keen to reclaim the title they won last in 2017 and a KCB side that has missed out on the title for more than a decade.

DCI are chasing a maiden title under coach Daniel Bor who says they are out to upset the form book.
