Queens, who won their Saturday game against Black Tigress 2-0, were in a ruthless mood against the weeping girls of the league

It was a mixed bag of fortunes for Kisumu teams as they posted conflicting results in the Kenya Hockey Union Women’s Premier and Super Leagues on Sunday.

While Kisumu Queens Hockey Club ran riot, thumping Daystar University Ladies 5-0 at City Park, Nairobi, their Kisumu City neighbors Lakers Hockey Club went down 1-0 against Wolverines at Kisumu's Simba Club.

Queens, who won their Saturday game against Black Tigress 2-0, were in a ruthless mood against the weeping girls of the league.

Sandra Jepkorir's penalty corner with only two minutes played opened the floodgates for the visitors who did not slow down after.

Skipper Beryl Achieng, who scored the second goal against Tigress, doubled the score five minutes later before Sheila Mbone made it 3-0 two minutes past the half hour mark.

Fiona stretched the lead further with the fourth goal before Daughty Ranga returned to scoring ways with the final nail on the Daystar's coffin with three minutes left on the clock.

It was a weekend to forget for Daystar University Ladies who were annihilated 8-0 by JKUAT a day earlier.

"I studied them yesterday and with a shake up in our attacking formation a scoreline of 1-0 would have been a disappointment for us," an elated Queens' coach Brian Aduda told Mozzart Sport.

Lakers slipped in the final minutes of the encounter, conceding through Cynthia Owino's well taken shot in the 49th minute to dampen their Sunday.

Ahead of the game, Wolverines had only won a single match, while losing four.

"We didn't take the game seriously as we should have," Lakers Team Manager John Paul Otieno told Mozzart Sport.

"Wolverines were better prepared and they deserved the win," Otieno conceded.
