On Wednesday night, the paramilitary side took on Burundi, winning the match 3-1 (25-20, 18-25, 25-20, 25-18) in a highly competitive match that saw head coach Gideon Tarus have to do without his regular setter Mathias Kemboi.
Kemboi, Dominic Chelule and libero Hudson Kipchumba are some of the players not eligible to feature in the police event as they are yet to undergo training to join the law enforcement unit.
As Tarus’ charges play Rwanda in the second match, they will look to defeat the side that is composed majorly of APR players and ensure they have a ticket to the Friday-scheduled final.
“We struggled a bit with setting but I am hoping we will have a better match on Thursday. We are keen to pick the win so we are safe whether they decide to go with the points format or have the final as only three teams are playing,” Tarus offered.
In the women’s volleyball category, it will be do or die for Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) as the Daniel Bor- coached side have only one match to play on Friday against Rwanda.
Action will then shift to beach volleyball for the Kenyans with the preliminary matches set for Saturday 26 March and the medal matches scheduled for the final day of action on 27 March.
