Heading into the final, KCB have grown into a more balanced and competitive side, blending youthful energy with seasoned experience.
Their steady evolution was evident during the regular season when they pushed Kabras to a contested 10-10 draw at the KCB Sports Club on Saturday, 7 March, before heavy rain forced the match to be abandoned.
Now, the Bankers are determined to go one step further and dethrone the reigning champions, who have dominated the local scene for the past four years.
KCB’s last appearance in the final came in 2024, where they suffered a heavy 29-5 defeat to Kabras.

However, head coach Andrew Amonde believes the gap between the two sides has significantly narrowed.
“We have grown a lot as a team this season. The boys understand what is at stake, and we are ready to put in a complete performance. Kabras are a strong side, but we’ve shown we can match them, and now it’s about executing our game plan on the day,” Amonde said.
The former Kenya Sevens captain is well aware of the challenge posed by Kabras, particularly their physicality and experience, especially when playing at home.
Captain Muhati echoed his coach’s sentiments, emphasizing the team’s readiness and unity heading into the final.
“This is a moment we have worked hard for all season. The boys are locked in, the energy in camp is right, and we know what Kabras brings. But we also know what we are capable of. It is about discipline, execution, and showing up for each other for the full 80 minutes. We want that title, and we are ready to fight for it,” he said.
KCB have received a timely boost ahead of the clash with the return of several national sevens stars.
Floyd Wabwire, George Ooro, Festus Shiasi, Samuel Asati, and Vincent Onyala are all back in the squad, adding depth, pace, and valuable experience to the side.
The expected starting XV features a strong lineup including: Fidel Maina, Nick Okullo, Emmanuel Silungi, Wilhite Mususi, John Aswani, Sheldon Kahi, George Ooro, Samuel Asati, Brian Wahinya, Festus Shiasi, Bob Muhati, Richel Wangila, Mike Wekesa, and Isaac Njoroge.
