Kenya hosted the opening leg in February at the Nyayo National Stadium, where six men’s and six women’s teams battled for early advantage.
Germany’s men and Uruguay’s women walked away as table leaders with 20 points apiece.
Despite an impressive unbeaten run in the group stages on home soil, Shujaa fell just short of glory after a 21-5 loss to the USA in the final, settling for third place with 16 points, only two behind the Americans.
Under head coach Kevin Wambua, Shujaa head into Montevideo with renewed determination and a clear target of reclaiming their place among the world’s elite.
Their campaign begins with a high-stakes rematch against the USA on Saturday, 21 March at 6:32 pm EAT.
They will then face Canada at 9:20 pm before wrapping up day one against Belgium at 12:08 am (Sunday).
Shujaa return to action on Sunday night against Germany at 9:55 pm, before concluding their fixtures against hosts Uruguay at 12:48 am on Monday.
For the Kenya Lionesses, the Montevideo leg presents an opportunity to bounce back after a difficult outing in Nairobi.
The team, coached by Simon Odongo, managed just one win, a narrow 15-12 victory over Brazil to finish fifth with 12 points.
They will need a much stronger showing in Uruguay to keep their promotion hopes alive ahead of the final leg in São Paulo.
The Lionesses kick off their campaign against China at 5:00 pm EAT on Saturday, before facing Argentina and Spain later in the day.
They will wrap up their matches on Sunday with fixtures against South Africa and Brazil.
Following the Montevideo leg, the series will conclude in São Paulo from Saturday 28 to Sunday 29 March, where promotion to HSBC SVNS 1 will ultimately be decided.
