Reading Time: 2min | Sun. 07.08.22. | 16:51
England won gold in a season-best 38.35 seconds forback-to-back titles.
Kenyans were eagerly waiting to see Ferdinand Omanyala anchor the 4x100m team possibly to a medal at the Club Games but he never got a chance as his teammates bungled the first baton changeover.
Kenya had made one change to the quartet that did duty in the preliminaries, replacing Hesbon Ochieng who went third in the heats with Dan Kiviasi.
Samuel Imeta went first and was to hand the baton over to Kiviasi who was to change over to Mike Mokamba with Omanyala set to anchor the team home.

England with blistering pace takes the 🥇
Trinidad and Tobago take 🥈
Nigeria takes 🥉
Heartbreak for Kenya who got the baton exchange all wrong from the beginning. They would've been one of the favorites.#B2022
Imeta had a good start but at the first change over, the duo did not properly effect the baton exchange as Kiviasi realised he was outside the 20m legal zone and with that, Kenyan's and the team's hope for a medal were dashed as they registered a DNF (did not finish).
In the heats, the African champion and record holder, Omanyala, who has already won the Commonwealth Games title, received the baton in fourth place and accelerated to finish behind Nigeria for an automatic spot to the final.
Imeta was first on the track, handing over to Mokamba with Ochieng going third to hand the baton to Omanyala who came home in a new personal best time of 38.92 for Kenya.
England won gold in a season-best 38.35 seconds as Trinidad and Tobago win silver in 38.70 seconds. Nigeria settled for bronze jn 37.81 seconds.
