
Kiprotich, Chepngetich relishing second chance to Miramas

The duo are set for a month-long training with the French club as preparations for Paris 2024 begin.
World Athletics Under-20 Championship 400m semi finalist Elikanah Kiprotich Chemelil, and his triple jump counterpart Winnie Chepngetich have gotten another chance to return to Miramas for training.
The two were part of the junior team from Kenya that camped in Miramas, France for weeks in preparation for the World Championships in Cali, Colombia and now get an opportunity for a month-long training with a possibility to extend.
Kiprotich, who will not be legible to compete in the next junior event, has shifted focus to the 2024 Paris Olympics after representing the country in Cali.
At the Miramas Athletics Club, Kiptotich will be joined by triple and long jumper Winnie Chepng’etich who entered the annals of history when she booked a place in long jump to the Worlds in Cali.
The duo jet out to France on Friday 23 September at 4am after an agreement between the French club, National Olympics Committee of Kenya (NOC-K), Athletics Kenya and the ministry of sports as preparations for Paris Olympics 2024.
"The agreement with the club is that any Kenyan athletes who will want to train for the indoor tours next year will be able to access the facility. We also had an earlier understanding with Miramas for our you athletes and we are seconding the two to begin their preparations for early.

We are hoping to have the two train until the end of the year, with a possibility theh will be joined by another group in November. We expect them to be ready for the indoor tour in 2023 as they begin their build up for the World Championships and Olympics," offered AK's Barnaba Korir.
The two have expressed delight in getting a second chance to get the high-level training with Kiprotich saying he is looking to benefit from the camp to work on his finishing.
"I got my current personal best while in Miramas and I managed to qualify for the World Under-20 Championship after. I hope to get better as I look up to get to the level of World and Olympics champion Emmanuel Korir who is my biggest inspiration in the distance," offered Kiprotich.
