Ambitious Lwasa sets lofty personal targets after opening K’Ogalo goal account

After getting off the mark against his old club, new Gor Mahia signing Peter Lwasa has fixated his eyes on achieving a task very many envy but only a few manage – to reach the twenty goal barrier and consequently challenge to become the top scorer in the 2021/2022 Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) campaign.

Since signing on the dotted line to join the record Kenyan champions from Kariobangi Sharks at the start of the current campaign, the Ugandan international has enjoyed playing time slotting in the middle of the park as Gor have made a flying start in the new season in a bid to reclaim the title they lost to Tusker.

After being selected in the starting eleven of the first three matches, Lwasa repaid the manager’s faith in him by scoring his first goal in the club’s colours in their third league match of the season against Kariobangi Sharks in matchday three.

Following his opening account heroics, the striker is now eyeing to get to the twenty goal mark and challenge to be among the top scorers in the league

“I am very happy because I know I have started my new journey at Gor Mahia. I have my targets to achieve for the season and that first goal now gives me a clear picture of how to go forward. My target for the season is to score 22 goals. Currently in this league, I know when you get to twenty goals you have high chances of becoming the top scorer and that is what I want to do,” the player told Mozzart Sport.

Having set the lofty targets of being among the top scoring players in the league, Lwasa returned his gratitude to his new teammates and head coach Mark Harrison whom he lauded for the part they have played in helping him settle at his new work station.

“I want to thank my teammates and especially my coach because he gives me a lot of confidence to play,” the player added.

Lwasa will be hoping to add onto his tally when an unbeaten K’Ogalo take on newly promoted Kenya Police in match day 6 on Saturday.
