The legendary Chilean sparks fans' fantasies, but the famous club is in turmoil

The flirting of Arturo Vidal with Boca is now more than obvious. The legendary 36-year-old Chilean midfielder posted two photos on his social media entirely dressed in blue and yellow, the colours of one of Argentina's most famous clubs. But the current state of Boca is one of disarray.

The caption under the photo wasn't explicitly about joining Boca, but many fans quickly drew some lines.

"With willpower and courage, you can overcome any obstacle in your way!!! Let's go for one more day of work."

What caught everyone's attention was how the Athletico Paranaense midfielder was dressed while recovering from an injury. In fact, all the comments on the publication were about it. Will the Chilean move from Brazil to Argentina? Beyond the photo wearing Boca's colours that Vidal posted on Instagram, intentionally or not, the reality is that there is a real chance that he could be a luxurious reinforcement for next year, just as Edinson Cavani arrived in 2023.

Former Boca ace Juan Roman Riquelme, now acting as the club's vice president, ignited the fans' imagination a few days ago.

"Two years ago, I dreamed he was born to play here. I said the same with Cavani, right? Some players were born to play in our shirt. They are extraordinary players, world-class stars that would be a dream for us if we could have them playing at La Bombonera."

However, the decision doesn't hinge on the sporting reasons alone. The club from Buenos Aires is going through particularly complicated elections, and it is a big mess off the pitch. If Riquelme is elected new president, then dreams might come true. If not... well, who knows?

The chaos surrounding the electoral process and their sporting setbacks have become intertwined, causing a maelstrom of events. The club's elections were initially set for 3 December, but they were halted after a legal ruling. That led to heated reactions from primary contenders Mauricio Macri and Riquelme. Amidst this turmoil, Riquelme addressed the matter at a press conference held at Bombonera stadium, surrounded by a crowd of supporters.

Riquelme discussed Boca Juniors' failure to qualify for the Copa Libertadores 2024 amidst the ongoing electoral turmoil. However, his discourse expanded beyond the elections, with a focus on the former Juventus and Bayer star Vidal.
