Babu confident that misfiring strikers will bag goals soon

Nzoia Sugar FC head coach Salim Babu is calm despite the fact that his forwards have been misfiring as the FKF Premier League heads to week four.

After three rounds of league matches, Nzoia have scored just one goal so far this season; the winner against Sofapaka on Saturday. Their first game ended in a 1-0 defeat to Gor Mahia while the second one against Bandari ended in a barren stalemate.

On Saturday, midfielder Leonard Kasembeli came off the bench to hand his team a 1-0 win a few minutes from time. The triumph calmed the Millers' nerves after what was a dominant performance without penetration.

Nzoia signed two strikers during the off-season window. Yasin Sije was acquired from Mayenje Santos while Mohamed Barisa joined the team from Silibwet. Alfred Tanui is the other striker in the team.

Despite the fact that the trio is yet to score, Babu remains calm and believes that it is just a matter of time before they start firing.

"I am not worried because I believe that it is just a matter of time before they start to score goals. They (the strikers) are working hard and are creating chances and what remains is putting that ball into the back of the net. It is something that will come with more finishing practice and as you know all our strikers do not have Premier League experience, they are players who have joined us from the National Super League and the Division One League and so we have to be patient with them, keep sharpening them, and eventually the goals will come, " he stated.

On the win over Sofapaka, the tactician believes that the triumph was merited.

"It was a good win but most importantly it was a reward for the hard work that the boys have been putting in training. We really dominated the game and just as it looked like it would end in another draw we got a goal and we almost scored another. It is a big boost for these young players, their effort paid off, " he added.

Next for the Millers is an away game against KCB on Saturday.
