The forward went for more than a year without a salary at Bullets.

Nzoia Sugar FC forward Levis Barasa has endured a whirlwind two years but chose not to give up on football despite things falling apart both on and off the pitch.

The forward hit the headlines when he was unveiled by Nzoia Sugar posing for a photo with a pack of sugar which elicited wild reactions from fans.

Speaking to Mozzart Sport, Baraza revealed that at the start of the year he had to deal with his wife of six years walking away from marriage.

“I had a wife of six years but when things went south when I was at Vihiga Bullets she left, we were not getting paid so she left and my life became even harder.

I however did not give up and chose to focus on my football and I would urge other footballers that they should just stick to football it might pay off,” said Barasa.

The forward bagged a hat-trick in the 3-1 win over Kariobangi Sharks to bag Nzoia’s first win of the season following a torrid start to the campaign.

Barasa left Bullets back in January, staying for more than six months without a club and revealed why he still had hope with the game despite the travails.

“I’m still not where I want to be, I did not give up on football because I have my own goals and where I want football to take me.

We have not been in contact with my wife but there was a time she called me to inquire about our child’s school fees but I still was not stable financially because of payment delays,” added Barasa.
