The decision was reached on Monday morning following a meeting by the club’s top management.

Nyaudo’s last match in charge was the 3-1 defeat to Kakamega Homeboyz on Saturday, a result that left the soldiers languishing near the bottom of the standings.

“Ulinzi Stars Football Club wishes to announce that Head Coach Dunstan Nyaudo has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect,” read part of the club’s official statement.

The club further thanked the tactician, who also serves in the Kenya Defence Forces, for his commitment and service to the team.

“The management appreciates Coach Nyaudo's dedication, professionalism, and service to the team both on and off the pitch during his time in charge.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Coach Nyaudo for his contribution to the Ulinzi Stars family and wish him the very best in his future endeavours,” the statement added.

Nyaudo has had multiple stints as Ulinzi Stars head coach. His latest tenure began at the start of last season when he replaced Anthony Kimani. Despite a difficult campaign, he guided the team to safety in the final weeks of the season.

A decision to part ways with him had reportedly been made during pre-season, but a change in the club’s management structure saw him retained for the 2025–26 campaign. Sources indicate that the club struggled to identify a suitable replacement at the time.

He began the current season positively, leading Ulinzi to a 1-0 away win over Murang’a Seal, followed by goalless draws against Kariobangi Sharks and Kenya Police FC. However, back-to-back defeats to Mara Sugar and Kakamega Homeboyz sealed his fate.

Former Ulinzi Stars captain and ex-head coach Stephen Ochola has been linked with a possible return to the technical bench, at least in an interim capacity. His potential comeback, however, could be complicated by the fact that several key players are set to join military training next month, temporarily depleting the squad.

Ulinzi’s next fixture will be against Bidco United on Wednesday at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang’ata.
