City Stars left back Dennis Wanjala happy after opening goal account

The defender has played 14 matches for Simba wa Nairobi this season

Nairobi City Stars left back Dennis Wanjala is glad to have opened his goal account at the club after finding the back of the net in the previous assignment.

Wanjala who is commonly known as Decha, was in the scoresheet when City Stars thrashed Vihiga Bullets 5-2 last weekend at the Kasarani Annex.

He scored in the 17th minute after he was teed up by winger Andrew Kisilu.

The match, saw the defender make his fourteenth appearance for the club in the campaign and his 36th since joining City Stars last season.

I am pleased to have finally found the back of the net for City Stars. The goal is now my motivator to improve my performance in the upcoming games,” he told club media.

Commenting on the club’s race to beat the drop, Wanjala called on the rest of the lot to come out and make a difference as the league gets to the business end.

I urge my teammates to step it up in the remaining games. We don’t want to make it easy for our upcoming opponents. Our points are not for the taking, “he said.

Meanwhile, the Harambee Stars trialist said the chemistry in between the players had improved and thus, the positive results.

The team is a lot more cohesive than before and everyone is ready and confident to represent the club. That is key to our course.” he added

In the 14 games he has played, he has clocked 1,081 minutes. Besides his debut goal, he has provided two assists according to statistics provided by the club.
