The versatile West Ham midfielder speaks confidently about tonight game against Manchester United, his accommodation to living in England, and a special bond with the Hammers' fans, widely known for its loyalty and passion
Along with Leicester City, West Ham United have definitely been the true hit of the 2020\2021 Premier League season so far. Only three points away from the Champions League spot, David Moyes' outfit seems capable of everything, even clinching a victory tonight against Moyes' former club, Manchester United.
And in that West Ham's slot, one figure stands out for much-praised performances that were quite unexpected upon his low-profile arrival to West London from his native Czech Republic.
Tomas Soucek has gained much confidence and respect from the fans, so it's no wonder he talks freely about the possible win at Old Trafford that could launch them to the very high position in the table.
"When I came here, we played against these top teams, and not many people believed in us. But know we are playing against Man Utd, and I don't know a single person from our squad, or training ground who doesn't trust us, we all believe in ourselves," explains Soucek at the beginning of the interview for Mozzart Sport Kenya and adds:
"All that is great and helpful, so we want not only to take a single point but a whole three from Manchester, we want to beat them, we're going to fight for that. And after the game, if we give our maximum, we shall check the result and see if it was enough for the win. Those three points would mean a lot for us and the rest of the season.
"We are really doing a good job, but there are still many games to be played, 11 exactly. I hope our displays will be similar to the previous three or four.
"When I came here, West Ham were in the relegation battle, and now we want to go up very high. We are playing well, with splendid results. What we need to do is to go from game to game and prepare well for each opponent."
The X factor when it comes to the Hammers and their improvements has been their coach David Moyes. The Czech talks about him with many kind words…
"Everyone here has confidence since we work with an excellent crew, both the players and coaching staff as well. The biggest change is that now under Moyes, we want to play like a team, not like many individuals. It has been a big help for us, and we want to continue like that all the way," Soucek stresses out.
The only thing he and his teammates' miss are their fans. With them in the stands, it would be a whole different story…
"I enjoy it with my family and girl, and we walk a lot in London. And during those walks, we have the pleasure to meet many West Ham supporters in the streets. So I'm really looking forward to the next game in front of a packed stadium. Everything is a bit harder in these conditions, but I hope things will change and we'll have a normal life soon with people being healthy.

For the 26-year-old playmaker, it has been a massive change in both career and life once he moved from his native Czech Republic to England.
"It was very hard, it was my first transfer abroad, and I came to the world's best league. No one knew me here, and not many believed in me. But I wanted to show the guys in the training ground and everyone else that I'm capable of doing things well. I did that, and after a month or two, everything has changed just fine.
"I want to improve myself each day; my running, ball control, tackling. But only myself, I want to affect my teammates as well, to help them, so the whole team will play better, " concludes Soucek for Mozzart Sport Kenya.
