Momanyi said panicking and inability to recover after conceding triggered the poor start in the season
Tusker FC captain Charles Momanyi has opened up on the team’s struggle early in the season, including conceding early goals.
The Brewers began the season poorly, failing to win all their first four opening matches of the season.

At the same time, the club was conceding early goals, much to the concern of the technical bench.
Tusker, who let in early goals against KCB, Posta Rangers, and Shabana, had to contend with life in the red zone for a couple of weeks.
However, the beer makers have since stabilised and appear on course in challenging Gor Mahia, and other title ambitious outfits, in dethroning Kenya Police FC.
Speaking after securing a win and a clean sheet in their 1-0 victory over Bidco United, the Harambee Stars defender took time to elucidate the team’s struggles, especially in the first four games.
“The problem was conceding early on first and then losing concentration because we were panicking. We agreed as a team to avoid conceding first as it was proving difficult for us to recover from that,” said Momanyi.
Despite the early-season struggles, Momanyi says the team did not revise its ambitions.
“There was no panic. We knew the league was a marathon, and we would catch up. Our target of recapturing the league still stands.”
Last weekend, Tusker beat Bidco United 1-0, with Dennis Oalo scoring the lone goal in the third minute.
The former Gor Mahia defender, who was instrumental in the victory by leading the defense line, revealed their winning strategy.
“Our target was to keep a clean sheet and utilize one of the chances, which is exactly what we did. I urge all our players to keep defending well once we take the lead,” he stated.
