February 21, 2026, and the clash between Brentford and Brighton at Gtech Community Stadium in London will be written in the Premier League's history books forever
On November 10, 2002, James Milner debuted in the Premier League as a Leeds United player, coming off the bench for Jason Wilcox in the last six minutes of the Whites' clash against West Ham. The then-teenager became the second-youngest footballer to ever play in the EPL at the age of 16 years and 309 days. Forty-seven days later, he scored his first goal in a 2-1 win over Sunderland, becoming the youngest-ever EPL scorer.
Two and a half years later, this record will be broken by Everton's James Vaughan, who was 86 days younger when he found the net against Crystal Palace. However, what happened today will hardly be "stolen" from Milner - at least not soon.
As of today, the 40-year-old is the player with the most appearances in Premier League history, as he started for Brighton against Brentford, playing his 654th game and breaking Gareth Barry's record.

On his way to this unbelievable milestone, Milner has worn the jerseys of several EPL clubs: Leeds, Newcastle, Aston Villa, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Brighton. He was the champion of England three times, won two FA Cups and as many EFL Cups, and the Champions League in the 2018/2019 season.
But none of that can match what he has achieved today.
