Morrison departs after an outstanding season in which he was named the league’s MVP.
Gor Mahia have suffered a major blow to their CAF Champions League (CAF CL) preparations and FKF Premier League title defence after the league’s Most Valuable Player (MVP), Enock Morrison, completed a transfer from the club to Sudanese side Al Merrikh SC.
The Ghanaian joins the Sudanese giants on a three-year deal, bringing an end to his stay at Gor Mahia, as announced on Sunday, 21 June, through social media by his new club.
“Ghana’s Black Stars, Enock Morrison, is a new addition to Al-Merrikh’s squad until 2029, arriving from Kenyan club Gor Mahia.
Welcome, Morrison, to the most decorated club in Sudan. Leave your mark, as all champions have passed through here,” reads the post by Al Merrikh.
Morrison had been at the center of transfer rumours in recent weeks following the final days of his contract with Gor Mahia, a matter that has now been settled.
The 26-year-old joined K’Ogalo in July 2024 from Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko and established himself as a key figure in the team.
His performance against Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League preliminary round in September 2024 particularly impressed the club’s supporters, even as Gor Mahia suffered a 3-0 home defeat.
While he endured a trophyless debut season with the club, the midfielder played a pivotal role in the just-concluded season as Gor Mahia went on to reclaim the FKF Premier League title from Police FC.
For his efforts, Morrison was named the league’s MVP at the end-of-season Gala Awards, beating stiff competition from former Murang’a Seal midfielder Joe Waithira and AFC Leopards’ Tyson Otieno.
Additionally, he also walked away with the Best Midfielder award, capping off what was already a successful season.
With his transfer to the Sudanese outfit, K’Ogalo must now search for his replacement as they prepare to represent the country in the CAF Champions League.
