The record league champions confirmed the deal on Tuesday, bringing an end to weeks of speculation surrounding the midfielder's future.

"Midfielder Lesley Otieno from Nairobi United is GREEN... Welcome to Mahia, Lesley," the club announced on its social media platforms.

Otieno had been heavily linked with a move to KCB, who were understood to be close to securing his services before Gor Mahia swooped in to win the race for one of the country's most sought-after midfielders.

His arrival makes him Gor Mahia's fifth signing of the current transfer window as the club continues to reinforce its squad in preparation for the upcoming campaign.

K'Ogalo have already secured the services of defender Daniel Sakari and forward David Okoth from Kenya Police FC, goalkeeper Michael Onyango from Equity FC, and prolific striker Paul Okoth from Ulinzi Stars after his impressive goalscoring exploits last season.

Otieno joins Gor Mahia after an outstanding spell at Nairobi United, where he established himself as one of the most consistent midfielders in the country.

The energetic midfielder was instrumental in the club's remarkable rise, helping Naibois clinch the 2024/25 National Super League (NSL) title before playing a key role in their historic FKF Premier League promotion and Mozzart Bet Cup success in the same season.

Renowned for his composure in possession, tireless work rate, ball-winning ability and leadership in midfield, Otieno was a central figure in Nairobi United's impressive campaign that culminated in a memorable domestic double.

The move also reunites him with former Nairobi United teammate Enock Machaka, whose transfer is set to be made official by Gor Mahia.

The duo formed one of the league's most dependable midfield partnerships and were pivotal to Nairobi United's success over the past two seasons, and also come with continental football pedigree, having featured in the group stages of last season's CAF Confederation Cup.

With Otieno now on board, Gor Mahia have further strengthened their midfield options as they seek to defend their FKF Premier League title and mount a strong challenge in the Mozzart Bet Cup and the CAF Champions League next season.
