Guardiola about unsold tickets: "We have to win with or without them"

Probably disappointed by the poor ticket sales among Manchester City fans, the Spanish coach had something to say and suggest

Pep Guardiola, the Manchester City manager, has suggested that some FA Cup semi-finals should be moved to northern England after his team struggled to sell thousands of tickets for Sunday's clash with Nottingham Forest at Wembley (18.30).

This marks the seventh consecutive year City has reached this stage of the competition, yet Guardiola believes the combined cost of traveling to London and ticket prices, which range from 45 to 150 euros, has led to the unsold allocation of 34,000 tickets. As a result, City will be outnumbered by Forest supporters on Sunday afternoon.

"One day in the FA Cup, maybe we can play these games in the north and teams can come to Old Trafford or the Etihad, or Anfield or Everton. All around the world people are suffering economically and I realise it’s not easy for them. I understand it. We would love it if they could be there and we will play for the ones who come to Wembley, and the ones who would like to but cannot. It is difficult because of the travel, the people who have to be at work on Monday and maybe will arrive back late on Sunday, the prices, the tickets."

Nottingham Forest have been given additional tickets to fill Wembley, and Guardiola is ready for the challenge of facing what could feel like an away game as he aims for a third straight FA Cup final.

"We have to do it with or without them (City fans)", said Guardiola.

For City, the FA Cup represents their final opportunity for silverware this season. They’ve faced Manchester United in the last two finals, winning in 2023 to secure the Treble, but were defeated by Erik ten Hag’s side last year.
