Gifty Gyan got his BMW and Infinity cars, as well as houses in UK and Ghana
Asamoah Gyan won many games during his illustrious career, but the ex-Ghana footballer also had some victories that were bitter/sweet. And after finishing his career in June this year, he experienced one of those ‘half-wins’ off the field. And it will cost him dearly. After five years of dragging in the courts, Gyan finally got the sentence he wanted: his marriage with his wife is now nullified. But, he will have to give his wife a number of properties.

To untangle this situation, let’s start from the beginning. In February 2019, Gyan went to court to seek an annulment of marriage between him and Gifty Gyan. The media also found out that he asked for DNA tests on his three children, claiming they were not his. The reason – apparently, Gifty Gyan was still in a legal marriage with another man. So, the DNA test confirmed that Asamoah is the father of Gifty’s three children, but the court also confirmed that Gifty has been married to a certain Mr Oware since 2002, thus nullifying her marriage with the Ghana footballer.
But here comes the twist: The court also ruled in favour of Gifty and gave her a lot of Asamoah’s properties. His ex-wife also wanted a divorce in a counter-sue, claiming he didn’t fulfil his obligations as a husband. The court ruled that she was already married but still was Asamoah’s fiancée and gave birth to his three children; thus, she is entitled to financial support. Gitfty got around 2000 pounds per month for support, a UK mansion in the UK (it’s registered to his children, but she is the guardian), a mansion in Accra and two of his cars: BWM and Infinity. On top of that, she got the land destined to become a petrol station (Gyan has a number of them already), but it wasn't built yet. And it seems that both of them are not happy with the decision. Asamoah didn't expect to part with his houses and cars, while Gifty asked a lot more, considering that Gyan is a millionaire with many firms in various economic departments.

Gyan is still Africa's record goalscorer at the World Cup - with six goals across the 2006, 2010 and 2014 editions - and played in seven Africa Cup of Nations tournaments, helping the Black Stars finish third in 2008 and as runners-up in 2010 and 2015.
