However, he has now completed a switch to VPS, signing a contract that runs through the 2025 and 2026 seasons.

The Finnish club confirmed the signing via social media: "We have signed a contract with Will Wilson. The contract also covers the 2026 season," read part of the official announcement.

The statement further revealed that the 23-year-old holds Australian, Kenyan, and British citizenship.

He last featured for Central Coast Mariners in the A-League and has international experience with Kenya’s senior national team, Harambee Stars.

VPS sporting director Tommi Pikkarainen expressed delight at securing Lenkupae’s signature, highlighting the player's versatility and experience:

“Will is exactly the type of player we’ve been searching for, a dynamic two-way midfielder who has proven himself in high-level matches,” he said.

He noted that the midfielder’s international pedigree and physical readiness were key factors in the decision to bring him on board.

“His best years are still ahead of him. The national team appearances on his CV were the icing on the cake. After just a week of training, it's clear he's in top physical shape and ready to play immediately,” Pikkarainen added.

Lenkupae made his debut on Sunday in a 2-2 league draw against Jaro.

He came off the bench in the 66th minute with the game tied at 1-1.

VPS had gone ahead through Tristan Dekker in the 50th minute before Vidjeskog equalized for Jaro in the 62nd.

The hosts then took the lead in the 68th minute via Michael Ogungbaro, but Elhadji Fall salvaged a point for VPS with a quick response in the 71st minute.
