Recuperating players says break will hand them additional team outside the schedule to heal
The breather handed to clubs that ply their trade in the Football Kenya Federation Premier League (FKFPL) will not only help alleviate the effects of fatigue reported in various camps but also give players sufficient time to recover from knocks suffered in previous assignments.
The league takes a break this weekend until Friday next week to allow the national team, Harambee Stars prepare for the final 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Egypt and Togo.
Stars will tackle South Sudan on Saturday at the Nyayo National Stadium in a buildup match for the qualifiers.
Our Stars are all set for their first friendly match of the year against South Sudan.

Kariobangi Sharks skipper Erick Juma is among the players who have welcomed the interval noting that it is timely to allow him to recover from an ankle injury picked during their 3-0 win over KCB a week ago.
The long-serving player at Sharks missed their Thursday 2-1 win over Mathare United in the Slum derby as a result of the knock but he reckons that he will have fully recovered by the time action resumes.

“The break is important and enough for me to recover fully. The team is doing well and I wish to contribute to the good run. I have already begun light training and I hope I will be available for selection in the next round,” he said.
Similarly, Sofapaka holding midfielder Sebastine Sunday is crossing his fingers over his neck setback which kept him out of their barren draw with league debutants Bidco United last weekend.
“The doctor ruled me out for three weeks. I have already stayed out for two weeks and I believe I will be fully fit for our next match,” he said.
The Nigerian midfielder joined Sofapaka in February last year. Other players who may benefit from the recess are Mathare United duo of Clifford Alwanga and James Kinyanjui who were nursing ankle and groin injuries but have resumed light training.
