Juventus finally score two goals in a match and defeat Cagliari

Reading Time: 2min | Sat. 11.11.23. | 21:53

The Italian giants managed to win 2-1 at home against Cagliari

September 16th was a big, almost shocking day for Juventus fans. That was the day when their team won against Lazio, but what is more important, it was the day when Juve scored three goals. That 3-1 win was followed by a 4-2 loss in Sassolo and after that, only once did the Massimiliano Allegri's team managed to score two goals in a game, against city rivals Torino. Everything else was either 1-0 win (Lecce, Milan, Fiorentina, Verona) or a goalless draw (Atalanta). And tonight, against relegation fighters Cagliari it was the same story all over again: boring, with advantage but without too much clear chances for the first time since September the home team scored two goals: 2-1.

World's best tennis player Novak Đoković is playing a tournament in Torino and decided to spent 90 minutes watching Juventus and two fellow Serbs – Filip Kostić and Dušan Vlahović. He obviously doesn't follow Juventus, since he would know what to expect – a cold weather and a boring game. At least he saw a good performance from Kostić, who had one assist and was the sole provider of chances, while Vlahović came in as a sub and did nothing.

Juventus had seven shots in the first half (just as Cagliari), but none on target. McKennie had the biggest chance in the first half, but he didn't use Kostić's good cross to capitalize, while Dossena missed his opportunity for the guests. Juventus finally broke the deadlock in the 60th minute, when Bremer did what McKennie didn't – use Kostić's corner and headed it into the net. The home crowd finally saw a second goal from their team ten minutes later when Rugani scored somewhat surprise goals with his chests, after the ball bounced in the penalty area. But Cagliari didn't want to give up and in the 75th minute Dossena made it 2-1, testing the nerves of the home crowd. Their blood froze in the 80th minute when Szczesny made a great effort to deny Dossena.
