Goals in either half from John Omondi and Boniface Onyango inspired Patrick Odhiambo’s charges to their third successive victory.
Further goals from the two defenders reduced James Khaleha’s first-half equaliser to an equaliser.
With Homeboyz seeking to maintain their early lead in the title race and Bomet eyeing back-to-back wins to lift themselves off the bottom, the match got off to a lively start.
The hosts threatened early in the second minute through Khaleha, whose effort narrowly missed the upright.
However, five minutes later, the visitors struck first.
Omondi opened the scoring with a teasing curler from the flank after being teed up by Oliver Majaka, a delivery that left goalkeeper Bob Cetric rooted as the ball went in.
Bomet, however, responded swiftly. Seven minutes after conceding, they drew level through Khaleha, who rose highest to head home past Edwin Mukolwe following a well-delivered set piece.
Buoyed by the equaliser, APS Bomet pressed forward in search of the lead.
Hansel Ochieng, facing his former employers, weaved past his marker but saw his goal-bound effort blocked by Potiphar Odhiambo.
Homeboyz nearly restored their advantage four minutes before halftime when Rodgers Ouma was played through by Hillary Otieno, but the midfielder’s poor touch saw the chance go begging.
Moments later, Derrick Otanga unleashed a thunderous strike that forced desperate defending from the hosts, while Majaka’s rebound attempt was bravely blocked by Sven Yidah, leaving the sides level at the break.
Homeboyz began the second half on the front foot and quickly reclaimed the lead through Onyango.
The former Tusker left back rose highest to meet Estone Omengo’s pinpoint cross, heading home past goalkeeper and second half substitute Morgan Alube to make it 2–1.
Odhiambo’s men then introduced Peter Thiong’o and Josphat Lopaga, who immediately added fresh attacking impetus.
Thiong’o came close moments after his introduction, forcing Alube into a fine save with a powerful drive.
APS Bomet pushed men forward in search of a late equaliser, with Khaleha and Ochieng both testing the Homeboyz backline, but the visitors stood firm.
In the dying moments, Khaleha had a golden opportunity to level the scores after connecting to a precise delivery from Mogasa, but the captain failed to direct his header into an unguarded net — a miss that proved costly.
At the final whistle, Homeboyz celebrated a hard-fought away win that cemented their position at the top of the log with 13 points.
